Member of the non-iPod pack

Looks like Randy and I are in the same boat I've never listened to a podcast on an iPod. I just click on them and listen to them while I'm working online with iTunes or whatever app serves them up for me. I actually assumed listening to podcasts was this complex, geeky business until I realized I could just click on a link whenever I saw it and start listening. Who needs an iPod?

Software Only: Podcasting overflow: need better producer/listener tools!

Software Only: Podcasting overflow: need better producer/listener tools! Agree w/ Jeff here. The podcast transcript tools coming out should help here as well, making all participating podcasts keyword searchable. I think I saw something abuot that at Doc's blog, but can't remember. Perhaps key excerpts would help as well, podcasting in bits, etc.

Software Only: Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia to start a podshow soon ?

Software Only: Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia to start a podshow soon ? Looks like some serious money is pouring into podcasting. Man, that didn't take long. This is got to be the fastest phenomenon to go from zero to sexy that I can think of. Hopefully podcasting will retain its grass-roots feel and, I suppose, agenda (sort of the democritization of the disk-jockey), for a few more months/years :)

Adam Curry Live at Gnomedex

He's riling up the conference audience to dance to the opening podcast music at the moment. A few actually are now, pretty contagious and loud mix of Beatles and Guns and Roses. This is the first time I've seen anyone dance at a tech conference... He's doing his 200th daily source code podcast right now- it is his keynote speech actually. Scoble's on stage now on the famous red couch, and people are hopping on stage and mobbing him a bit, at least I see Lasica up there, and Chris Pirillo.

He's talking about taking back "our media" now, he sees the current movement in podcasting and contention-creation as a new cycle of, metaphorically speaking, "free love." But to make it happen he says we "need fuel"- fuel from Microsoft, and all the big companies.

I'll ad links here in a bit...

Here's the direct link to the podcast.

Godcast

I make a habit of listening to all of Dave's Morning Notes podcasts. But today's was in a whole other league. He podcasts during a massive thunderstorm that seemed to make my PC shake as I listened. Turn your volume down, or up if you want a good scare, and have a listen :) This is a classic.

One-stop-podcasting

Found this at JD's New Media Musings. Looks like Ev might be looking to do for podcasting what he did for blogging-- simplify it, so the non-alpha-geeks can get on board and run with it. I started out on Blogger, and it really was the first, best step for newbies at that time imho.

Declassifying the Podcast File

The history of tech-invention is always fascinating-- the history of the GUI, the mouse, DOS, the Internet, and so on. First-hand info is often a rare gem-- an inventor talking opnely not just about the invention, but about the personal business experience, as Dave did this morning with regard to the germination of podcasting, and how Adam and Dave have since parted ways. I haven’t heard Adam’s side, so can’t comment either way about who’s right or wrong, etc (not sure that's the issue, anyway). I do like to hear people like Dave talk honestly about their personal business relationships though, as so often the personal side of business is hidden and never spoken of (sometimes for good reason, sometimes not), certainly something we can all learn from imho.

Btw, TDavid of Things that make you go Hmmm... writes an in-depth blog-article about what he calls the Podcasting Star Wars. Worth the read, which includes well over 30 comments, including at least two from Dave.

Dave and God in a Thunderstorm

Now listening to a podcast I missed from a couple days ago. Dave podcasts while a thunderstorm booms and periodically interrupts him (and punctuates his statements), very cool.

Podcasting on podcasting on podcasting...

Listening to Dave's Morning Coffee Notes this morning. Pretty much listen each day now to his podcasts on my laptop as I work through my inbox. Today's he's got a 17 min podcast on podcasting, especially with regard to iTunes' new announcement, worth a listen, as always.
